It was Christmas, 2016. Newton, a pit bull was found wondering the streets of Newark, New Jersey and brought to a local shelter. No one claimed him nor did he have a chip. Unfortunately, he was put on a list to be euthanized.
As luck would have it, a dear friend visited that shelter to find her dog a playmate. When she saw Newton (originally named Tank) her heart melted. He sat in the corner of a cage with about twenty other rescued dogs. He was shaking and confused.
On January 2nd my friend picked him up and brought him home. He was quite shy and very timid. Not many lost or abandoned pets have a happy ending. Newton was one of the lucky ones.
Perhaps there is a sweet soul out there waiting for you to give them a chance at a safe and loving home.
